    Area Calculator

    About this tool

Choose a shape and enter the dimensions marked on its diagram. Add or subtract rectangles, triangles, circles and L shapes. For irregular spaces, enter directions and lengths to draw exact edges, or drag template corners with labelled grid snapping.

    Area measurement

Choose a task. Inputs stay in this page only.

Use Simple / draw for rectangles, circles and base-height triangles. Choose a shape tab above for other dimensions. Each shape keeps its own measurements.

    MAKE IT SIMPLE

    1. Choose a shape · 2. Enter its dimensions · 3. Read the area

    Area stays in m²

Dimension guide · not to scale

Enter the dimensions shown on the diagram.

Use separate, non-overlapping sections. Excluded dimensions must belong to the measured area; overlaps are not detected in easy mode.

    Example: L-shaped floor

Choose L-shaped, enter outer width and height, then enter the width and height of the missing corner. For multiple separate rooms, choose Add section; for a void or opening choose Subtract.

    Worked examples

    10×8 m rectangle minus a 2×2 m void

    80 − 4 = 76 m²

Enter width A=10 and height B=8 in metres, then subtract a 2×2 m section.

    Circle with diameter 2,000 mm

    Approximately 3.142 m²

Choose mm, select Circle and enter diameter A=2000. The radius is 1 m, so the area is π×1².

    Place a point at (3.2, 3.3) m with 1 m snapping

    Snaps to (3, 3) m

New points and dragged vertices align to the nearest grid position. Changing the spacing does not resize completed shapes.

    Questions & answers

Can I enter a radius for a circle?

The field expects the diameter. Double a known radius first: a 1 m radius means a 2 m diameter.

Does changing grid spacing change existing areas?

No. The spacing affects new points and future vertex movement. Turn snapping off to enter arbitrary precise coordinates.
