    Cable tray material quantity takeoff

    About this tool

Estimate straight cable tray pieces for separate routes without treating elbows or tees as straight lengths. Enter the number of repeated runs, piece length, spacing and allowance, then supply the bend and branch fitting counts from your drawing. Results separate base pieces, extra pieces, straight splice sets and support positions.

    MAKE IT SIMPLE

    Example: 8+5+2+4 × 2 runs = 38 m total.

    Formula examples and counting rules

A length expression such as 8+5+2+4 with 2 runs represents two separate 19 m routes. You may also enter (8+5+2+4)*2 with Runs set to 1. Do not set both multipliers above 1; this is rejected to avoid double counting. Each route is calculated separately for sticks and supports. Up to 100 rows.

    Quantity estimate assumptions

Straight route lengths and repeated runs are independently rounded up to full stock pieces, straight couplers and end/intermediate support points. Waste applies to full pieces only. Select spacing and full-piece length from project requirements; shared supports, offcut reuse, fitting lengths, loads and code compliance are not evaluated.

    Worked examples

Two independent 6 m straight runs, 3 m pieces, 2 m spacing, 10% allowance, two elbows and one tee

5 straight pieces including one extra, 2 straight joints, 8 support positions, 2 elbows and 1 tee

Each run needs two straight pieces and four support positions. One extra piece is reserved for the specified allowance.

    Questions & answers

Are splice plates and bolts counted?

No. One splice set represents one straight joint. The number of plates, bolts and accessories depends on the manufacturer's connection kit.
